Uphold Exchange Becomes Official Sleeve Partner of Burnley FC
Uphold exchange and English Premier League football team, Burnley Football Club have announced a partnership which will make Uphold the Burnley’s Official Sleeve Partner for the 2023/24 Premier League season.
The Uphold logo was first placed on the Clarets’ shirts for the August 27 game against Aston Villa. The partnership will also see the Uphold’s branding displayed on LED signage across Burnley’s field on match days throughout the season.
Uphold was ranked the fastest-growing company in Silicon Valley by the San Francisco Business Times in 2022. They will also become an Official Partner of Burnley FC Women, as part of the Club’s continued commitment to developing women’s football across the world.
Not the First Crypto Deal for Football Clubs
Burnley FC isn’t the first top level football club in the world to have a partnership with a cryptocurrency exchange platform.
Manchester City Football Club expanded their sponsorship agreement with crypto exchange OKX at the end of June. Their partnership first began in March 2022, when OKX became the official training kit partner for the European and English football champions. As part of the expanded agreement, the OKX logo will be featured on the left sleeve of both the men’s and women’s first team playing kits, while also retaining its position on the left sleeve of the first team training kits (practice jerseys), in addition to appearing across further digital and physical club assets. OKX also has an agreement outside of football with the Formula 1 McLaren team.
AC Milan, one of the top clubs in Italy, recently renewed their partnership agreement with BitMEX crypto exchange, which was first signed in 2021. Like the Burnley FC and Man City deals, BitMEX’s logo will be on the sleeve of both the men’s and women’s AC Milan squads.
Juventus, another of the top clubs in Italy, signed an agreement with BitGet exchange back in 2021, which they renewed again in 2022. More recently, they also became the sponsor of the Juventus women’s team.
Similarly, teams for other sports such as basketball have signed partnership agreements with Crypto.com, Coinbase, and more infamously, FTX Exchange. Coinbase is actually the official crypto exchange of the NBA, WNBA, NBA G League, NBA 2K League, and USA Basketball. Crypto.com is the sponsor of the LA Lakers and Clippers arena (Crypto.com Arena), the Philadelphia Sixers, and the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL.
About Uphold Exchange
Uphold first launched in the United States in 2015, and functioned more like a traditional e-currency wallet, such as PayPal, but it’s since expanded to become a full-fledged exchange with a portfolio of assets that includes numerous cryptocurrencies in addition to equities, precious metals, and more.
Uphold has a unique “Anything to Anything” interface that gives end users seamless trades between digital assets, national currencies, and precious metals. Uphold smart routes orders across 29 trading venues for optimal execution and superior liquidity.
Uphold lets users stake certain digital assets to earn passive income. The company also offers the Uphold Card, a Mastercard debit that allows you to easily spend any of your Uphold assets wherever Mastercard is accepted.
Perhaps most importantly in the wake of the FTX collapse, Uphold never loans out customer assets. Uphold has an extremely transparent proof of reserves that is updated in real-time and is easily accessible.
