Does Crypto Work on Apple?

Yes, crypto works on Apple, as long as your device has an internet connection you can interact with crypto on Apple devices.

It’s important to remember that even if you sent crypto to a wallet on your Apple device that it’s not actually stored there, but on the blockchain. In that sense crypto wallets are not device specific. If you ever lose your device, you can recover your funds by using your recovery phrase or private keys.

That goes for Bitcoin wallets and general crypto wallets.

Here’s a look at the very best wallets for iOS:

MetaMask

One of the most well-known crypto wallet applications, MetaMask, is available for iOS. You can connect to a variety of blockchains using MetaMask including Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Fantom, and more. You can interact with DApps and DEXs using MetaMask, stake, and swap directly within the wallet. MetaMask wallet is also Apple Pay compatible for Visa and MasterCard.

It may not support the variety of assets that some of the other wallets on this list can, but MetaMask is one of the best options for trading assets, lending, borrowing, playing games, NFTs, and more. The user has far more control with MetaMask than other wallets on this list too, meaning it is more of a hands-on experience that requires some previous understanding of crypto transactions. Find more information on the official MetaMask App Store page. Read CryptoVantage’s full MetaMask review here.

How Do I Pick an iOS Crypto Wallet? What Features Are Best?

When it comes to picking an iOS crypto wallet, there are a few things to consider. First, does the wallet allow you to use Face ID or Touch ID to secure the wallet? Picking a wallet with that feature gives you an added layer of security in case your device is lost or stolen. Some wallets allow you to back up your private keys to iCloud, though this creates a central attack vector for hackers so isn’t recommended.

The main thing you are looking for is a smooth interface and easy to navigate layout. Wallets that allow you to stake and swap from directly in the wallet are a plus too. Some wallets are better for certain blockchains, so be sure to compare which wallet fits your needs. The nice thing is iOS wallets are all free, so if you don’t like the first one you pick, it’s easy to start using another at no cost.

Another key element of choosing a crypto wallet is whether it supports the assets you are looking to hold. For instance a Bitcoin wallet that only supports BTC won’t be useful for Ethereum or Cardano users. Fortunately most wallets are capable of storing multiple digital assets.

Do I Need a Cold Wallet?

This is a common misconception for people who are new to crypto. Software wallets and hardware wallets (also referred to as “cold wallets”) are not mutually exclusively.

A hardware wallet simply stores your private keys on an offline device. You can connect a hardware wallet to a software wallet to get the best of both worlds.

Any software wallet that isn’t connected to a hardware wallet stores its keys online and, thus, is often referred to as a hot wallet.

What’s the best crypto wallet for you? It depends.

A cold wallet offers better security but they also cost money so it might not make sense for an extremely small amount of crypto. At the end of the day you’ll have to make your own decision but its probably a good idea to invest in a cold wallet if you have a large amount of crypto.

Is Android Better for Crypto?

There is no better operating system for mobile crypto wallets. Both Apple iOS and Android as operating systems have no direct relation to the blockchain networks with which you interact using your crypto wallet.

Certain blockchain networks are better for crypto in terms of transaction speeds and fees, but those speeds and fees are the same whether you use Android or iOS.

There is some discrepancy between what’s available on the app store vs. Google Play but there’s also a lot of overlap. You’ll find digital wallets on both devices.

Can You Use Browser Wallets Like MetaMask or Phantom on iOS?

Yes, browser wallets like MetaMask, Phantom, and Trust Wallet can all be used on iOS. If you already have one of these wallets set up on your browser and wish to import it to your iOS it is easy to do so. Simply use your recovery phrase when setting up the wallet on your iOS device and you can start using your wallet on the go.

It just depends on the software developer whether they offer a browser version of their software or only a mobile app. Many mobile wallets are designed for mobile only.

Can I Buy Crypto With Apple Pay?

Yes, there are some platforms and apps that allow you to buy crypto with Apple Pay including MetaMask, and exchanges such as Coinbase allow payments for crypto with Apple Pay.

More crypto exchanges and services are beginning to accept Apple Pay as a payment method for crypto.

Is it Easy to Set Up Crypto Wallet on iPhone?

Yes, it is easy to set up a crypto wallet on iPhone. The steps are the same as for setting one up on a desktop or laptop computer.

Follow the instructions and be sure to keep your recovery phrase somewhere safe. Don’t forget that even though the wallet is on your iPhone, your digital assets are on the blockchain, so you can access your wallet on a desktop computer or laptop too by importing your wallet.
